How I approach
every problem.
"Good design is not just how something looks, it's how clearly it communicates, how gracefully it handles the unexpected, and how respectfully it treats the person using it."
Start with People
Every brief starts with one question: what does the person on the other end actually need? I sit with real users before touching a wireframe; observing, questioning, and unlearning assumptions.
Clarity Over Complexity
The best design makes hard things feel effortless. I strip away until what remains is precisely what's needed, nothing more. Simplicity is the hardest thing to achieve and the most valuable thing to deliver.
Iterate Without Ego
No design survives first contact with users, and it shouldn't. I validate early, fail fast, and treat every round of feedback as a gift. The version that ships is always stronger for what was thrown away.
Aesthetic with Intent
Visual craft isn't decoration, it's communication. Every colour, typeface, and spacing decision carries meaning. I design systems that are as considered as they are beautiful.

Outside of Work
I'm Lorraine;
designer at heart
engineer by practise.
I'm a Product & Visual Designer with 2+ years of experience designing digital products and visual identities, including work for BBC News, where I contributed to graphic design and event branding for one of the world's most recognised media organisations.
I work at the intersection of UX thinking and visual craft, from early discovery research and information architecture to high-fidelity UI systems and brand identity. I also build in React and TypeScript, which means I design with real constraints in mind and communicate with engineers in their language.
I'm currently open to product design and visual design roles full-time or freelance, at organisations where design is treated as a strategic function, not a finishing touch.
